Revelation chapter 7. We've already met 144,000 from the tribes of Israel. Now John focuses his attention on a multitude beyond count. We are told they are from the great tribulation and lost their lives for their witness of Jesus Christ. How does this align with what Jesus taught in Matthew 24 and the Olivet Discourse?

The 144,000 Redeemed | E46

Revelation chapter 7. Who are the redeemed 144,000 sealed and set apart from 12 tribes of Israel. Only this list of tribes doesn't exist anywhere else in the Bible. So who are they?
We're still in the sixth seal. John is being shown a vision of a couple different groups of people. One is being sealed and follows the King wherever he goes. They other is the followers of Christ who have been martyred.

Its the End of the World | E45

Revelation chapter 6. Welcome to Escaping Babylon. We're walking through the book of Revelation to discover what the Bible has to say about the end of the age, tribulation, and the second coming of Jesus.
We've covered the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Now Jesus opens seal 5 & 6. Christians are crying out from the altar for justice. And in seal 6, Jesus returns to earth. It's the day of God's wrath: earthquakes, hail, stars falling, moon turns to blood, and the sun diminished. And yet, there's still many more chapters in Revelation. How can the end be so soon in the Revelation story?

There is one who is worthy. It is a lamb who was slain for the sins of the world to purchase a people who called to be priests in the world.
Next up... Jesus opens the 7 seals. We start with the release of the four horsemen of the apocalypse unleashed in the world. God's judgements begin. What awaits the world in these final years as Jesus prepares to reclaim the earth as King.

The Significance of the Temple | E41

Welcome to Escaping Babylon where we are discovering what the Bible has to say about the end times, tribulation, second coming of Jesus, and the apocalypse. Jesus wanted us to be watching and waiting for his return.
The Temple Mount is one of the most contested pices of real estate in the entire world. Three of the world's largest religions have claims to it. Currently the Dome of the Rock shrine is centered there. Israel desires to build a third Temple and is ready to do so. Several times throughout Revelation, the temple symbolism, ritual, and imagery is mentioned. However, most Christians don't have a basic understanding of the purpose of the temple in Jewish worship or how it functioned. This can make understanding Revelation and the end times study difficult.
This week we take a time out of our Revelation study to learn about the Jewish Temple, its flow of worship, priestly responsibilities, and how it functioned in their life. Hopefully this will give us a better understanding when we hear words such as lampstand, Holy Place, ark, etc. Let's build a framework to dive deeper.

Enduring the Test of Faith | E40

Welcome to Escaping Babylon where we are discovering what the Bible has to say about the end times, tribulation, second coming of Jesus, and the apocalypse. Jesus wanted us to be watching and waiting for his return.
We're going to tackle all of Revelation chapter three today and look at three churches: Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea. One church put their faith and hope in the wrong things, another was challenged to endure through trials and conflict. The last church was neither hot nor cold and Jesus was going to spit them out of his mouth. In their wealth and comfort, they were ineffective and had blended with the culture.
Looking forward to moving on in Revelation. Next podcast, we'll look at the temple. There are numerous references to the Jerusalem temple throughout Revelation. Do we have a proper understanding of the symbolism and imagery in order to understand Revelation. Join us as we dive into the temple structure and learn more!

The Danger of a Jezebel Spirit | E39

Welcome to Escaping Babylon where we are discovering what the Bible has to say about the end times, tribulation, second coming of Jesus, and the apocalypse. Jesus wanted us to be watching and waiting for his return.
The church in Thyatira had a problem. There was a false prophetess Jesus called Jezebel who was leading the Christians away from the truth, teaching sexual immorality, and encouraging them to eat food sacrificed to idols. They had a Jezebel spirit in their midst. The real problem was with the leadership. They were tolerating her behavior and allowing passivity. Jesus rebukes them sharply and calls them to repent.
Next podcast, we'll look at the church in Sardis. What happens when your church looks alive, has a reputation for being active, but Jesus calls you dead? Is it possible to look alive on the outside but be truly spiritually dead on the inside? Join us as we dive deeper.

The Dangers of Compromise | E38

The church in Pergamum had faced conflict but remained faithful. However, their ability to remain strong didn't dismiss the sins they were allowing into their lives. They were guilty of compromise and syncretism by blending themselves with the culture and other idols. What happens when our actions cause another brother or sister to stumble? Jesus warns them to repent.
Next podcast, we'll look at the church in Thyatira. It is the smallest and perhaps least significant town in the 7 letters. However, we are introduced to a character named Jezebel who is a false teacher and leading the church into sin.
